Biography

Dr. Usama Ahmed is currently an Associate Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran Campus. He completed his Doctorate Degree from Seoul National University (SNU), South Korea, in 2017. Dr. Ahmed teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses at KFUPM and delivers specialized lectures on Aspen Hysys to final-year students in the Chemical Engineering department, aiding them in resolving simulation-related issues. Dr. Ahmed is engaged in several projects funded by the Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR) at KFUPM. His research primarily focuses on Process Modelling and Simulation of chemical engineering processes, including the design and operation of power generation processes, Organic Rankine Cycles (ORC), Gasification, Reforming, Oxyfuel combustion, waste-to-energy processes, and carbon capture technologies. Additionally, he possesses expertise in the monitoring and fault diagnosis of industrial systems. To date, he has published more than 45 articles in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and has presented more than 20 papers at international conferences. He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers (KiChE), and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Dr. Ahmed is also committed to finding practical and economical solutions to regional and global energy and environmental issues.
