Biography

Dr. Basim is a seasoned faculty member at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), having joined the institution in 1995. He earned his Ph.D. from McGill University in 2007. His research focuses on several key areas, including the development of innovative advanced oxidation technologies for removing trace organics and bacteria from water, dehydrogenation and alkylation of hydrocarbons, and wastewater treatment using carbon nanotubes (CNTs). He has garnered recognition in the form of nine patents and multiple publications in reputable journals.

In terms of professional engagement, Dr. Basim has been an active member of organizations like MEPEC, EMET, and GDA since 2013. He has served on the technical committees for multiple conferences, including those hosted by EMET and GDA. Beyond that, he is involved in youth programs, serving as an advisor for MEPEC and GDA. His dedication to pedagogy and mentorship has earned him accolades, including thrice receiving an Excellence in Teaching award and four times being recognized for Excellence in Advising.

Dr. Basim is also committed to international academic exposure, having led student delegations to diverse countries such as Canada, Germany, China, Malaysia, and Singapore. Additionally, he has contributed to the scholarly community by participating in and delivering various workshops in recent years.
