Chairman

Dr. Youdong Cheng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He earned his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore in 2019 and his Bachelor’s degree from Tianjin University, China, in 2015. Before joining KFUPM, he spent five years as a Postdoctoral Researcher at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

Dr. Cheng’s research focuses on the design and development of mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) that incorporate advanced porous materials such as metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs). These hybrid membranes hold significant promise for efficient gas separation, offering enhanced permeability and selectivity by combining the complementary advantages of polymers and porous crystalline fillers.

He has an extensive publication record, having authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, with his work cited over 4,400 times according to Google Scholar.
