Biography

Professor Mamdouh Al-Harthi currently holds the position of Dean at the College of Chemicals and Materials at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). He has previously served as the Dean of the College of Engineering and as the Chairman of the Chemical Engineering Department at the same institution. An internationally recognized authority in the fields of Chemical and Material Engineering, Prof. Al-Harthi earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in January 2007.

Prof. Al-Harthi has secured more than 30 U.S. patents and has published over 150 articles in peer-reviewed international ISI journals. He has also presented his research findings at numerous international conferences focused on materials and chemical engineering. At KFUPM, he has served on various Scientific, Research, and Graduate Councils, and has chaired or participated in several high-level administrative and academic committees, including the Graduate Committee, Research Committee, and Program Assessment Committee. He has also served as the principal investigator, co-investigator, or team member for numerous KFUPM and industry-funded research projects.

In recognition of his exemplary research contributions, Prof. Al-Harthi was awarded the “KFUPM Excellence in Research” award, the highest honor bestowed upon faculty members who have excelled in research during the specified academic year.

Prof. Al-Harthi is deeply committed to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. Beyond teaching various courses, he has supervised numerous MS and Ph.D. students and has developed specialized training courses and tailored programs in the field of chemical engineering for diverse industries.
